The Inevitable.

Before the bad news, let me share a link to NPR - Eddie Vedder's new Ukelele album which is something I'm really enjoying this morning.  Well, that and the massage I just got.  I'm really going to miss the regular chair massages at the office.

On to bad news.  The hammer finally came down at work yesterday.  Several people, myself included were given their final 'end date' with the company.  Basically, this means I've been laid off, but my last day isn't until the end of September.  Basically I've been waiting for this to happen for more than a year now -- not to get fired, but to get some finalization on my job whether I was staying or going.  It's good to finally know, but after 7 and a half years here, I don't really want to go either.  I was pretty much a mess all day yesterday.

People have been saying that it's good I have until September because it gives me plenty of time to look for something new.  And I suppose it is good, but right now it just feels like a giant kick in the face.

It's good that they're giving you time to do some job-hunting and ease out of the position instead of just kicking you through the door, but it's still always going to be painful news. I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry. Are they giving you some kind of severance package or something or can you get unemployment in the case you don't find work right away? Like I said on twitter, if you need anything or whatever, just let me know and I'll do my best to help you out.
