I'll have more to say tomorrow when I have a little more time and patience to type out our meeting with the girls yesterday. However, I do want to say that it's a little sad that parents have to choose between getting paid, spending a portion of savings, or you know actually have some paid time at home to spend with their new family.

Matt and I are trying to do a little research to figure out if we'd be able to stay at home at all if we take these little girls. Right now, it's looking like that's a no. How do people do this?

I thought that FMLA covered time off after adoption, but I could be wrong... might be worth checking out if you haven't already, though!

FMLA only guarantees you unpaid time off and a job when you return -- there is no federal paid leave. And only FMLA paid leave mandated by the state in California.

Oh, hrm. I guess most of the FMLA type things I've seen people take have been coupled with SDI, now that I'm thinking on it. :/

I hope that you guys are able to work something out... I can't imagine having two new kids in the family and having to go back to work immediately.

I missed all these posts until now. I really hope you'll be able to take these girls on. It sounds like they really need a lot of love and I know you guys will provide it.
