Regular Ordinary Wednesday with Bad News

I finally got word back from our Foster Worker this morning, that the worker assigned to the kid we applied for has said that we're not a good match. It's more than a bit disappointing, especially after so many weeks of waiting. The good news is that our worker took a list of names (five) from me and she'll be passing them on all at once -- so that we don't have to continue this one at a time waiting game. It's sad that Destiny isn't right for us because the things we did was with her in mind. But, there's a kid out there that is.

---

Yesterday was my first full day back in the office and it seemed to go pretty well -- I didn't have too much trouble getting around. This morning, I could barely walk at all my foot hurt so much. So, I'm back at home, with my foot propped up. We'll see what it's like tomorrow.

I'm sorry about how this situation turned out. Like they said in Dr. Horrible: "everything happens". Things will work out, and you're going to be an amazing parent. <3

Well, they told our worker that they thought she was too challenging a child for us. I know that it's hard to make quick judgements like that, but my guess is they have some sort of quick reference for each kid - like a job application process, they look for keywords (like maybe having kids before or whatever) and if you don't match they say no. I mean, I don't know -- maybe it's more in-depth than that but the number of requests they get on a regular basis suggest that they probably don't.

I'm so sorry to hear that, E. Shouldn't the child have a say too, considering she's old enough to make a choice? I'm just really surprised they'd deny you, it seems cold and unhelpful to everyone involved. :/

Twitter just doesn't give you enough characters sometimes. I'm so sorry this didn't work out for you and Matt. I know you guys were super excited about it, and they drew it out for so long. I've still got my fingers crossed for you guys. There are so many kids out there that need to be in a good home like yours. It'll happen.
