WINTER WRITING FOR FUN AND PROFIT

Tripped over my own feet when I was getting into the elevator this morning. *blushes* Probably a sign that I really do need to get back to bellydancing. I've been out of class for the past month or so because of this sinus infection nonsense. I'm not 100% better, but I feel like I could probably at least do one hour without having too tough a time breathing.

Writing assignments for yuletide went out last night. I got mine and am surprised at mine. I got a match on something I avoided writing last year, but my recipient gave me an interesting idea, so I'm going to power through. Hopefully I can make something out of it, since I do like I hesitate to call it a fandom story.

Chances are I won't be 'winning' NaNo this year since I'm nearly 40k in the hole on words. I've had a terrible time finding motivation to write when I've got so much else going on. Yesterday for example, I could've written, but my head wasn't in it because it decided yesterday was going to be the day I worried about everything. I kept thinking about my brother and sister in law coming into town and the fact that I'm going to have to be around several small children over the holidays and at the same time enduring questions about why Matt and I don't have kids yet (foster or otherwise). I'm not really up for all that - I mean last year when my cousin lost the baby we were planning to take care of, at a small gathering of Matt's family. And that wasn't even a holiday - it was a birthday or something? (I don't remember why we were gathering since I was mostly weepy all day.)

So while I'm dealing with that personal crap, I'm also dealing with a bunch of work I need to do for GA (not all of which is pleasant). So, finding the motivation to sit down and work on my NaNoWriMo story is hard. That's part of why I'm more excited about smaller projects like yuletide.

It also explains why I'd much rather be playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood right now. Dudes, it's awesome. It's like Assassin's Creed 2 - Part 2 (Exploding Explosions) and it's a full game too - non of this Dragon Age: Awakenings like nonsense. PLUS (and this is the best part) it's all about the Borgia family. Well, sort of. But the history geek in me is getting some twisted pleasure from watching the Borgia family drama through Ezio's eyes. <3
