You've got to be kidding me...

I just discovered that Murder by Death is in town TONIGHT. At 9:30pm they've got a show down in Westport at The Record Bar, and I really really really want to go. I have been to a concert in what feels like ages, it's only $20 and it's Murder by Death!! The bad news is that our GA staff meetings are Tuesday at 9:30pm (my time) and since we haven't had one recently, I feel like I should be there. Plus, it's just such last minute notice that it just really wouldn't work out. But, damn, I really would like to see them in concert someday. Just not today, I guess.

So I'm currently finishing up my originalbigbang story. Then, because I haven't had enough writing craziness this year, I've managed to squeeze myself into aiw_bigbang - the Alice in Wonderland big bang. I'm sort of of the mind now after doing the Dragon Age story at 27k words, that 15k for AIW and then 15k for Inception BB just doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Plus, there's at least 1k for the spook_me ficathon, and that's a lot of words, and it's all in theory got to be done before November 1st so I can get cracking my NaNo project.

My NaNoWriMo novel this year is going to be non-fiction. I've had all the chapter themes laid out for a while, I've just been waiting for November to roll around so I can work on it. I've missed 50k the last two years, but with the extreme madness with which I've been writing this year, I think I can pull it all together.

OH! And speaking of scifibigbang I think I might have an artist after all. My story went up last night, but the artist actually said she's going to put something together for me. So *fingers crossed*.

I have downloaded LOTRO. I played the beta years ago and enjoyed it, but I was playing WoW at the time, and didn't see the point in picking up a second subscription fee. Now that I'm not playing WoW, and LOTRO is FREE-TO-PLAY it seems like a good time to give it another try. I haven't had a chance to actually load it up yet, but I think tonight is the night I'm going to do that.

Lately, I just look like a big nerd when I play computer games. Typically, playing on my desktop these days means I have either my laptop or my netbook (sometimes both) set up next to me so that I can write or surf or whatever while I'm loading games, or paused or traveling. Multi-tasking at it's finest.

Yeah, D&D Online does it the same way. Thing is I've got at least one expansion sitting in my closet - it was free at some event. So, I'll have some things I can do that the regular free-to-players can't.

I just want a game I can log in and play whenever I want without a lot of pressure and that doesn't cost me a dime. So much about WoW when I quit just felt like I HAD TO DO IT, and then I had to pay for it, which made it more stressful for me. Like if I don't play I'm wasting my money, but if I do play I was wasting my time. *sigh* The sort of freedom from a FtP system is appealing.

Plus, it's LotR.

I was in the same boat - I played LoTRO's original launch beta, and enjoyed it, but played WoW at the time and it felt like an unecessary addition. Now I don't play WoW, and I recently spent a few weeks playing FTP LoTRO's beta. It was awesome. Loved every minute of it. So I'll definitely be giving it proper run once it eventually takes off in Europe, especially since I've had a disappointingly dire time with the FFXIV beta.

Oh, I played a few minutes of the FF XIV beta at PAX recently and was so bored with it. It looks pretty, but I didn't really see the point.
