Life, Pets & Drama (Days ##)

I don't know what day it is anymore. I feel like I've been on a health roller-coaster the past few weeks, and I can't shake it. When I came back from PAX East, I got a sinus infection. I fought it for weeks before it finally felt like it was dying. Thankfully, I thought, it was mostly gone by the time Warrior Weekend rolled around. Unfortunately, there were some other health issue I dealt with that weekend, but nothing major. Then, after a week of what I thought was sinus relief, my sinus infection is back. It's not nearly as bad as it was last month, but it still means a lot of head congestion, trouble talking and breathing and generally crappy fatigue and sick feeling.

Then, this weekend, I managed to pull something (the doctor says, 'Lumbar Sprain') in my lower back on the right side. It's made doing pretty anything hard. I crawled around in misery on Saturday and when I woke up Sunday to more of the same, I had Matt take me to the Urgent Care doctor. She wrote me two nice prescriptions - one for a muscle relaxer and one for pain. I took them, and felt sort of floaty and just kind of sore for the majority of Sunday. Monday however was a different story. I woke up nauseous, but had breakfast and my pills and went to work. An hour later, I was shaking and sweating and called Matt to take me home. I spent the entire day on the couch sleeping fitfully for hour/hour and a half bursts and fighting the nausea when I did wake up. Around noon I felt better, so I went out to run an errand. By the time I got home, it started all over again and I was back on the couch sleeping. I didn't take anymore of the meds, but I was still nauseous for the rest of the night.

Yesterday though, I woke up and found my back felt better (a little) and the nausea was gone. So, lesson learned about those pain meds. (The meds were supposed to be in a different class than the Vicodin I know I'm a allergic too, but apparently, it's not different enough.)

Jazz has been absolutely needy while I've been sick too. He's following me around the house everywhere, when I'm sitting he wants to be as close as he can without actually being on me, and he busts out of his gate or semi-closed doors to get to me. It's sweet on the one hand, but he's 85lbs and doesn't know where not to lean or step to not make my back move.

My boss is actually in the office this week (in KC I mean) which means being sick all week would've been really bad. Walking like an old lady and making weird noises when I move or stand is one thing, having to stay home in a med-coma would've been another. The boss took me and the other guys on the team here out to lunch yesterday, which was a nice. We're not friends, but it was friendly, which is all I can ask for.

On top of all this health stuff, I'm dealing with some drama from a couple people right now, which is just confusing and crazy. I might talk more about it later, but it's one of those weird situations where you think you know or understand someone and then they start saying things that sound completely out of character for them. And when confronted, their of course, 'fine'. I actually, after seeing one of these comments, uttered the phrase, 'who is this person'? Because I just don't know anymore.

Boo for back pains and sinus infections. No fun at all. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

J'onn looks disapprovingly at my back pain, scary.

I'm so freaking tired of this sinus infection, I mean seriously it's gone on too long.

I hate being sick, too. ; ; And I find when I get back from a convention, I get sick a lot myself. I think you not only wear your immune system down from usually staying up late and trying to do everything you can, but you come into contact with so many germs as well. >.< But at least it's gone now, right!?

I'm sorry about your back too. ; ; I had no idea just how long you were sick and felt awful, you're so productive on the site, wow. I hope the summer is nice and relaxing for you, Elizabeth. <3

Thanks Vanessa. :) I'm pretty used to working through the pain - it's all part of having a crappy immune system. But the sinuses this year are driving me CRAZY! My back's feeling better so hopefully next week I'll be much much better.

Glad to see you have some internet access again! Chris from TMG recorded our call last night, so you'll be able to listen in when that gets done.

Yay! And my internet was okay, but my speakers died apparently so I wasn't going to be able to hear the call. x.x; Buying new ones today or tomorrow.
