Days #18 - #21 (And My Birthday!)

So, Thursday was the beginnings of the birthday celebrations. Matt took me out for a great dinner at Lidia's, which is a phenomenal Italian restaurant downtown. (Lidia's isn't new to me, but it's pretty darned different since there's no way we could eat there on a regular basis.) Later in the evening, I had to do about half the GA Lit. Angels podcast alone, because miss _inneruniverse was at an event, and skipping out to grab food. I don't blame her for it at all, it was just really odd to be talking all alone into the phone without anyone responding or joking with me. Very spooky.

(Oh yeah!) After dinner we stopped by the Half Price Book Store, and I saw an ad that Murder by Death is going to be at The Bottleneck weekend after Labor Day (the 12th). I looked it up and tickets are only $11, I'm totally going.

Friday was my birthday (29!), and I had a lot of great birthday wishes on Twitter, Facebook and here on LJ. It's really great to wake up and see birthday wishes that start at like 5am. Spent my birthday working during the day, and running my White Wolf mega-game players through some mind-bending stuff (for them, not me). It's fun watching players devise worse fates than originally planned. :)

This is also the first birthday where my mother hasn't called me, or told me in person happy birthday. She meant well, but still. We also stopped my Dad's where he and Sherri gifted me a really pretty necklace for my birthday that I'm going to need to get a longer clasp for.

Oh - Friday I also got an additional title at work. I'll now be the Training Advocate for Real Estate as we continue our transitions between teams/companies. Don't know how good of a thing (if at all) it is yet.

Saturday, Mom threw a birthday party for me and my grandpa (we share the day). My aunts and uncles all came and it was a pretty fun family party. Part of my present from my mom was a Borders card, so Matt and I made sure to swing by one on our way home so I could use it up. Sneakily I managed to use two different coupons, by having both Matt and I buy the books, with my newly signed up for rewards card, and the coupons my Mom sent out with us. (Acquired: Titans of Chaos by John C. Wright, Living with the Undead by Kelley Armstrong, Cape Storm by Rachel Caine and The Drowning City by Amanda Downum.)

Sunday, I got in on the Warhammer fun that Matt's been working on. Then, I played a bit of Magic: the Gathering on the Xbox Live Arcade (as witnessed by all my Raptr twitters about it). I'm having fun - playing on the TV means living behind all the things I don't like about Magic, like the cards, the people, and the customization. I beat the 2nd and 3rd challengers, and have gotten stuck on Lilian (the black deck). I also finally broke down and signed up for a Netflix account yesterday. Now that it's hooked to the Xbox, and I can stream straight through the console, it seems like a pretty good idea. Too bad I didn't think of it earlier in the summer when there wasn't anything on.

I've been debating getting that Magic: The Gathering on xbl for all the reasons you stated. So I take it that it's worth it?

And next podcast I promise not to leave ya hanging! :P

It is worth it. I'm really enjoying playing, even when I lose.
