Back to teaching, Books Read in 2008

So, I started up knitting classes again last night. New year, new beginners. Although, between dancing/stretching and then teaching, my back is in a whole new world of discomfort today, and no amount of painkillers and muscle relaxers are helping. Matt keeps reminding me that I need to try and find a Rheumatologist and make an appointment, and I'm trying to wait out the typical 'back pain for six weeks norm' like the doctor told me. I hate not knowing though - am I sore because my back is going through a compression cycle as I age, or am I sore because my immune system is finally dragging my muscles and joints down with it? Hate both options at this point, that's how bad my back is hurting. So, thank you overnight snow dump for letting me stay home, because I'm pretty sure the pain would be magnified in a florescent office with bad chairs.

I'm almost done with my knitting certification book. All the stuff is done, I just need to finish fixing the sweater that Sekhi decided to knead upon at some point with her claws, and make sure everything else is tagged properly. I should be in more of a hurry to finish, I'm just finding it hard to get the motivation together when I'm this sore.

GamingAngels put together an interesting article about Lara Croft today, in which I have a paragraph or two. I've never been a big Tomb Raider, but I feel that Eidos' effort to make Lara more 'female friendly' is sort of a stupid phrase. We're going to try and do more articles like this in the future, so if you have a topic idea, please send them my way. :)

And before we get too much further into January, I want to do my 2008 read books round-up, so I can get it over with. I didn't do as many reviews this year as I wanted to, and I probably missed the last third of the books I read. But, I read them, and I'll talk about them someday.

If it hadn't been for the three series I pretty much devoured at the end of of the year (Twilight, the House of Night Series, and Larklight) I probably wouldn't have read nearly as many books this year. But, grand total: 37 which I think is on par with last year's count as well. One of these days I'd like to get up to 50, but that'd require reading books with less pages I think. Or finding time to read between gaming, writing about gaming, managing a gaming site staff, teaching knitting and actually working...so maybe that's never going to happen.
