"Through the sea of waking dreams..."

So, uh, I have strep. Conversation with the doctor's secretary went very oddly.
Her: "Your mono test came back negative, instead we think you may have strep throat."
Me: *laughing* "Uh, is it normal for a person to have strep, but not have a sore throat?"
Her: "Umm,...-pause-...no, not really."
Me: "See, my throat stopped hurting after about the forth day, and I'm going on three weeks of not feeling good now."
Her: "Well, we think you have a viral strain of strep, so go ahead and start the antibiotic Dr. Lockwood gave you."
Me: "Wait, if it's viral, what is the antibiotic going to do for me?"
Her: "Well, we're hoping it'll make you feel a bit better until the virus goes away. But after the medicine is gone, if you don't feel better, she wants you back in here."
Me: "Okay. Whatever."

So yeah. I don't think she has a clue as to what the deal is. So now, not only am I taking an antibiotic for no good reason, other than to help me become immune to it, I'm still not feeling better. And my doctor is clueless on what is really wrong. My tonsils are still fucking swollen, and it's a pain to swallow. They don't hurt, they're just inconvienent. I've had strep before, this isn't it. If I thought I had strep, I would've had them do the fucking throat culture the first time I went in instead of making a second appoinment for the blood work. Speaking of blood work, they say my thyroid test came back normal. However, the fact that it came back two days after it was taken tells me they didn't do the thorough work-up. Meaning, normal could mean anything really. I'm going to call and have them mail me the results.

In other wild and wacky news. My job still sucks, however I'm finally being treated a bit like a supervisor, by the other supervisors. That's good, I think, however it puts me up there just enough for things like lovely rumors to start trickling back to me. That isn't so good. Plus, now that the other supervisor's are starting to pay attention to me, they're also starting to ask me for help and advice, like last night, when I had to step in to do a verbal warning for another supervisor. I'm still not sure how I got sucked into the middle of the whole thing, I was trying to leave, but it happened, and it makes me look good with the supervisors, but not so good with some of the associates. Ugh. How I loathe people sometimes.

Also, something else I find extremely odd is that one of my long-time friends has decided to make me her role-model for relationships. Yeah, about seven years to late for her, but I don't know what to think about this. The one time in my life that I have a relationship with someone, and one that looks like it might last as well, and that makes me incredibly nervous sometimes, and she decides now is the time to watch me. Uh, I hope she realizes I'm making it up as I go. And now, no matter what, I feel like I can't let her down. I've tried for so very many years to help her, we've had our issues with boys before, but this is different. She's actually listening to me now, actually wanting to grow up a little, and I'm not sure I'm in the best position to help her anymore. Or maybe, I'm in the best. I'm not so sure. I'm not saying anything different now than I was back in middle school, but now she's listening. I just hope I help her out.

And now, I have a new game to play.

If they think you have strep and your throat isn't sore anymore, you've probably got scarlet fever. Definitely take the antibiotics! If you don't get the infection cleared up, it can lead to rheumatic fever which effects your heart.

Not trying to sound scary, but if they're so f---ing clueless... Take your drugs in this case.

Here's some fun medical reading material too:

Feel better soon, m-kay!
