On the ground

Yesterday, Matt picked me up for lunch because the cafeteria at my office is closed for a few days and I forgot to bring something with me. I've been pretty forgetful lately, and I'm not in the habit of bringing my lunch, since I'm usually on in the office three days a week.

Anyhow, Matt came to pick me up and I was all wrapped up in my coat and walking to his car, and the next thing I know I'm on the concrete, falling back from putting my weight on a knee onto my ass. One second I was walking fine, the next I'm taking a header into the concrete, and only stopped from hitting my head by slapping my knee down onto the sidewalk.

My vision went all weird, and I'm pretty sure I fainted for like half a second which is kind of frightening. I mean when you trip, you're supposed to know it's happening right? I didn't realize it had happened until my knee started screaming in pain. I mean, it's okay now, swollen and probably bruised, but mostly fine. But seriously WTF?

Whatever I did must've looked scary - the security guard came running out from the front entrance to check on me by the time I regained enough of my senses to try standing up. She was hesitant to let me get in the car with Matt until I told her like 5 times that really, I was fine. I'm still not sure she believed me.

Oh yikes. I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt, but that sounds very alarming.

Are you thinking of checking in with a doctor or anything? Blackouts = Not good. I'm glad you're doing OK after the plunge, at least.

I seem to be okay now, my knee isn't even too bad, just a little swollen. But, yeah, I'll probably call into my Rheumatologist's office just to see if I need to go in.

OMG, that is scary! I'm glad you're okay, but you want to hear something weird? I almost did the exact same thing the other day. While driving. I had to pull over, get out of the car, and walk around to regain enough of my senses to make it the rest of the way to work.

I'm pretty sure mine has to do with the lithium, but I'm worried about you. Do you have any clues/ideas as to what could have caused that?

I think it could be from the Plaquenil I'm taking (it's prone to cause dizziness). But, I don't know for sure. Matt says if it happens again, I should go to the doctor. If it doesn't happen again, I'll know it was just a weird one-time fluke thing.
