I'm a Week Behind...

Matt and I went to see Superman Returns over the weekend instead of the new Pirates movie. Our plan was to see both, one Saturday and one Sunday, but we were invaded by family Sunday afternoon, so no movie. We may be able to convince some friends to see it Tuesday night, instead of gaming, which would be nice.

My quick thoughts on Superman. I love Superman. For no reason other than I grew watching the old black-and-white (and later color) George Reeves Superman with my Dad when I was a little girl. My dad loved Superman, and that love carried over to me growing up. I was really reluctant when I heard there would be a new Superman movie. One, because there were rumors of Nick Cage in the beginning, and Two, because I wasn't sure that anyone could really do the thing justice anymore. Let him live on TV and in the comics, people will always come back to him there. I had two really big thoughts about the movie after seeing it. The first one being, that they picked the right guy. In the beginning, when he comes back and saves people and he shows up everywhere, TV and newspapers - I got a little teary-eyed, I'll admit it. I was really happy to see what they could do with Superman now, and still make him Iconic and Heroic. The second thought, was that I was really disappointed with what they did with the second-half. Sure Lois, has always been pretty retarted, but starting with the second she steps foot onto Lex's boat, the movie really went downhill.

Lois and Superman and the return thereof aside, if you look at the whole thing as both a sequel and homage to the first two CR Superman movies, I think Brian Singer did a damn good job. It also really helps if you watch the show their running on cable right now: The Science of Superman, before you go in. It definitely gives you an appreciation for how much thought they put into his powers. Oh, and Kevin Spacey still remains one of my favorite actors. No one, could follow Gene Hackman as the goofy Lex, and manage to pull him off as both the goofy Gene Lex, and the suave intellectual Lex, like he did. As much as I love Superman, a little piece of me will always want the bad-boy Lex. *grin*

On a different note. I don't know if I mentioned it, but the Gaming Angels site is up and running. If you don't know, it's a gaming article, review, ect. site for girls. I'm going to be submitting a lot of articles their way probably, mostly about roleplaying. There are a few exceptions, like now, where there's a Guitar Hero review up by me.

Oh, and a big thank you to duendegrrl and kakita_shisumo who let me bring Jazz to their apartment last night while we gamed. That was one tired pup we took home last night. So much so, that he slept and was quiet through the whole night for the first time since we brought him home. *grin*

It's called I Am Legend.
I've not read it, but the premise sounds interesting. And there would be Depp.

Will Smith is slated to play the hero. Which is just weird.

Yeah.. I was trying to ignore that part. ^^
Not that I dislike Will Smith, but it seems to lend itself to being a silly vampire movie by adding his involvement, which isn't really the kind of vampire movie I was looking for. But if that's what it is, or nothing, to see Depp as a vampire, I'm good with it. ^^

Here's what I found out:
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=15221

"UPDATE: JoBlo has learned that Depp will actually be playing a fellow survivor that Smith's character finds named Philip. The site says that Cortman has been taken out of the story completely. Akiva Goldsman's rewrite apparently has the monsters unable to speak and they are more primal and unintelligent."

It would've been a bit more interesting to watch that way I think.

Yay! Imagine how tired he'll be a few months from now when Cannon and he actually do play together! LOL
All told, I think he did extremely well. Cannon, I mean. A young floppy formerly-male pup invades his territory, and he just seemed to want to be left mostly alone. He didn't, you know, try to eat him or anything, which I've seen happen when male dogs meet. And your dog, well, he's just super. He takes it all with a grain of salt and keeps on comin'. Keep bringing him over, even in the time between now and when Cannon gets used to him, he's still a joy to have around.

I think Jazz just has that Puppy Persistancy that says nothing's gonna keep him down! I really hope that he and Cannon ease into playing together before too long, but I'll settle for the playing next to each other, if I have to!
